Cape Town Child Welfare Society is a registered non-profit child protection agency dedicated to safeguarding children in crisis. As South Africa’s oldest and second-largest child welfare organisation, the Society has served vulnerable children and families since 1908.

Over the years, the organisation has helped more than one million children facing neglect, abuse, poverty, homelessness, and substance dependency. Its mission is to protect, nurture, and empower children so they can grow up in safe and supportive environments.

Intake & Referral Services

The intake and referral service provides the first point of contact for children and families in crisis. Social workers offer immediate assistance and refer families to suitable services when needed.

Investigations & Intervention

Social workers assess children who may face risk or harm. They determine whether the child needs protective intervention. When necessary, the team works with legal authorities to remove children from dangerous environments.

Foster Care Placements & Support

The organisation identifies safe and caring foster homes for children who need care. It also supports foster families and monitors each child’s well-being until adulthood.
