Description

Charlie Maxwell Psychotherapist London – Who I Am and How I Work

Charlie Maxwell Psychotherapist London is more than just a professional title. It's a reflection of my commitment to helping clients transform their lives through therapeutic connection and skilled guidance. I bring real-world experience, strong academic training, and a compassionate, practical mindset to every session. Whether you meet me in central London or online, you'll find a therapist who listens deeply and responds with care, clarity, and professionalism.

My Experience as a Psychotherapist

I have been working with clients for over seven years. During the first five, I supported individuals in two respected mental health services. Working with a broad range of issues, I helped clients navigate grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges.

Now, I offer therapy through private practice while also serving on an assessment team at an inner-city mental health service. This dual role allows me to stay engaged with both the structure of clinical teams and the intimacy of one-to-one therapy. Furthermore, it keeps my work grounded in both practical realities and clinical insight.

Qualifications and Training

My qualifications include an MA and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling. I trained for seven years at the Minster Centre—one of the UK's leading institutions for integrative therapy. This rigorous programme sharpened my ability to tailor therapy approaches to individual needs. As a result, I work flexibly and creatively, adapting to the person in front of me, not a one-size-fits-all model.

Registered, Accredited and Committed

I am a registered member of both the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I also hold enhanced DBS clearance. These credentials demonstrate my commitment to working safely, ethically, and in line with national standards.

To stay sharp and effective, I engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing training. This ensures that the people I work with benefit from fresh perspectives and up-to-date skills.

From the Frontline to the Therapy Room

Before becoming Charlie Maxwell Psychotherapist London, I worked for nearly twenty years in government and corporate security roles—often in high-risk, high-pressure environments. That experience gives me unique insight into how careers involving stress, danger, or service can affect mental health.

Because of this, I offer particular support to those working in aid, security, media, medicine, development, and the military. I understand the challenges of these roles and the impact they can have on relationships and identity.

Why I Believe in This Work

I’ve sat in both chairs: client and therapist. So I know how hard it can be to reach out for support. I also know how rewarding therapy can be when someone is ready to make a change.

My approach is grounded, respectful and focused on growth. I believe therapy should help people create lives that feel more stable, more connected, and more satisfying.
