Chaudhry Rehman Consultant Psychiatrist Sussex provides expert care for many mental health conditions. From depression to anxiety, OCD to bipolar disorder, Dr Rehman treats a wide range of illnesses. He has worked in the UK since 2003 and brings over 20 years of experience to his patients. Because he focuses on clear, practical care, many patients trust him for their mental health needs.
First, Dr Rehman trained at Army Medical College Rawalpindi, graduating in 1988. After serving as a regimental medical officer, he switched from anaesthesiology to psychiatry. He completed specialist psychiatric training at top institutes, including the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre in Rawalpindi. By 1998, he earned the Burki Gold Medal for his achievements. Later, he also won the Pakistan Psychiatric Society Gold Medal.
After moving to the UK in 2003, Dr Rehman joined the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust as a consultant psychiatrist. Since then, he has helped many patients and led several improvements in mental health services.
Moreover, Dr Rehman improved teamwork between GPs and mental health staff. He created teaching programs for GPs, helping them understand mental health better. As a result, patients get faster and clearer care.
In 2009, he took charge of 18 inpatient units and 4 psychiatric intensive care units across four hospitals. He introduced a system where doctors manage bed use directly. This system made care more efficient and helped patients move between wards smoothly.
Because of his hard work, Dr Rehman earned four clinical excellence awards by 2016. He also helped update mental health laws in Pakistan, replacing old laws from the British era. His work affects both UK and international mental health policies.
Additionally, Dr Rehman trains many medical students and junior doctors. He teaches at King’s College London and supervises trainees regularly. He speaks English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi. This helps him connect with patients from many backgrounds.
