Dr Eric Albrecht Ophthalmologist, Foreshore is a highly qualified ophthalmologist specializing in medical retina diseases and cataract surgery. He obtained his MBChB from the University of Stellenbosch in 1997. His ophthalmology journey began in Scotland, where he trained for a year before returning to South Africa. In 2004, he accepted a medical officer position at Eerste River Hospital, later completing his specialist training at UCT/Groote Schuur Hospital in 2010. He holds both an MMED (Ophthalmology) and FCOPHTH (SA).

Dr. Albrecht’s military background led him to 2 Military Hospital, where he worked full-time while actively training ophthalmology registrars at UCT/Groote Schuur Hospital. He established the Medical Retina service at Groote Schuur Hospital in 2010, where he still consults weekly. His passion for service extends beyond hospital walls. He volunteers at Eerste River Hospital, offering cataract surgery and medical retina care, and actively participates in community outreach programs.

He plays a key role in Grace Vision, a non-profit organization delivering eye care services in rural Eastern Cape. Additionally, he volunteers as a cataract surgeon for Radiance Foundation and Gift of the Givers, restoring sight to those in need.
