Ella Knight Psychotherapist London brings over 20 years of experience in psychotherapy and mental health care. She offers clients compassionate, focused, and evidence-based support through Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). Based in Harley Street, Ella also maintains strong ties with the NHS and the Priory Group. Her clients benefit from a deep understanding of both the clinical and relational dynamics of therapy.
As a CAT psychotherapist and registered supervisor, Ella uses a collaborative, structured approach to help clients recognize and change deeply rooted patterns of behavior. CAT combines elements of cognitive and psychoanalytic therapies. It focuses on how past experiences influence current behaviors, especially in relationships. Unlike longer-term therapies, CAT is time-limited and highly effective.
Ella works with people facing a wide range of difficulties, including:
Childhood trauma
Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
Depression and low self-esteem
Relationship challenges
Unresolved grief
CAT is particularly beneficial for individuals who have completed addiction treatment or who are in early recovery from eating disorders. It supports deeper psychological exploration, going beyond symptom management to uncover and work through root causes.
Before becoming a CAT psychotherapist, Ella trained and practiced as a registered arts therapist. She began her career in the prison system and homeless sector, then moved to the NHS’s secure forensic services. Over time, she transitioned to senior roles in secondary care across Kent and Medway and Central and North West London NHS Trusts.
At the Priory, Ella is known for running engaging and therapeutic group sessions. She previously led the “Understanding Relationships” group at Hayes Grove and now provides individual CAT sessions at the prestigious Harley Street location.
Ella is:
A UKCP registered CAT psychotherapist
An HCPC registered arts therapist
A licensed ACAT supervisor and therapist
She also holds a diploma from St Thomas’ psychotherapy unit and has completed multiple accredited training programs in both CAT and creative arts therapy. Her qualifications reflect a career committed to professional excellence and client wellbeing.
Ella brings not only expertise but also warmth, creativity, and humor into her sessions. While therapy can be a challenging journey, she creates a space that feels safe, connected, and purposeful. With her, you are not just receiving treatment — you are entering a collaborative therapeutic relationship grounded in trust and understanding.
