Priya Nathwani Consultant Psychiatrist Kent brings a wealth of experience in child and adolescent mental health. Dr. Priya Nathwani qualified in 2018 from the prestigious Maudsley Training Scheme. She has worked across various high-acuity services, helping young people with emotional and psychological challenges.
Throughout her career, Dr. Nathwani has remained committed to delivering high-quality, personalised care. Her expertise spans obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), autism, ADHD, and high-risk psychiatric presentations. She has worked in national specialist services and large NHS trusts, gaining a comprehensive understanding of complex mental health needs.
Dr. Nathwani completed rotations at leading institutions, including King’s College Hospital and community neurodevelopmental teams. During this time, she gained hands-on experience in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. These formative years shaped her holistic approach to mental health care.
Her early work included managing crisis cases, providing outpatient support, and working with high-risk adolescents. This has given her the ability to remain calm and effective, even in high-pressure situations.
Since becoming a consultant, Dr. Nathwani has led innovations in care delivery. At Oxleas NHS Trust, she co-founded a crisis and DBT service for children and adolescents. She also received foundation training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and advanced training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), systemic theory, and parent support models.
Her move to private healthcare in 2020 marked a new chapter. She has managed multiple inpatient units, including secure care and intensive treatment wards. Her ability to create safe, therapeutic environments has made her a sought-after clinician in both public and private sectors.
Dr. Nathwani uses a psycho-social model in all her assessments. She works closely with families to develop treatment plans tailored to each young person’s unique needs. She believes in collaboration, transparency, and continuous support.
As a solo practitioner, she maintains strict criteria for the safety of her patients. If a case requires a more intensive approach, she ensures appropriate onward referrals. This protects young people and their families from unnecessary delays.
Dr. Nathwani serves as a specialist advisor to the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This role enables her to advocate for safe, high-standard mental health services nationwide. She is also a proud member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is on the GMC specialist register.
Currently, she works as a substantive consultant psychiatrist at the Priory Hayes Grove. She provides private CAMHS services and offers consultations in English.
