Talia Planting Psychiatrist Pinelands

Talia Planting is a Psychiatrist in Pinelands, practicing at Vincent Palloti Hospital. She is dedicated to better understanding mental illness and optimising mental health. This includes a patient-centered approach with a focus on the biological, psychological, and social aspects of care.

She completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Cape Town. She did her internship in Kwazulu Natal and a community service year in rural Mpumalanga. During this time she completed various acute life support courses for adult and neonatal emergencies, along with her Diploma in Mental Health. After two years as a medical officer in psychiatry, she joined the registrar training program at the University of Cape Town and completed her specialist training in psychiatry along with a Masters in Psychiatry.

After qualifying as a specialist, Dr. Planting worked as a consultant both at Tygerberg Hospital Psychiatric Unit and Stikland Psychiatric Hospital. This entailed both clinical work and supervising/ teaching trainees in psychiatry and medical students. Thereafter she spent time overseas gaining international experience in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry.
