Stephanie Gray Counselling Psychologist Edinburgh offers compassionate and collaborative therapy for individuals seeking meaningful change. I create a therapeutic space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. Therefore, therapy becomes a shared journey to explore experiences, build strengths, and achieve clarity. In addition, I focus on neurodiverse-informed care, particularly supporting people with ADHD to harness their unique strengths.
Dr Stephanie Gray is a dedicated counselling psychologist who blends scientific knowledge with empathetic practice. Psychology forms the foundation of my work, but therapy is the art of applying that science creatively. Consequently, I deliver care that combines research-based methods with genuine human connection.
I believe therapy should be a safe and respectful space. Thus, clients explore challenges without fear of judgment. Furthermore, my approach emphasizes collaboration and empowerment, making therapy both personal and effective. Over the years, my experience across NHS services, charities, and private practice has reinforced the power of warmth, respect, and evidence-based care.
I have worked in psychiatric inpatient units, GP surgeries, primary schools, and wellbeing projects across Lothian. This journey has strengthened my understanding of mental health and therapeutic needs. My clinical interests include:
Anxiety and Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Low Self-Esteem
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (CPTSD)
Trauma and interpersonal difficulties
Stress management and perfectionism
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Alcohol-Related Brain Damage (ARBD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
I provide a variety of evidence-based therapies tailored to individual needs. These include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), including trauma-informed approaches
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
Person-Centred Therapy (PCT)
Moreover, I adapt therapy approaches to meet each client’s specific situation, ensuring practical strategies for real-life challenges.
I hold a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DPsych) from Glasgow Caledonian University. Additionally, I earned a Master’s in Counselling & Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Certificate from the University of Edinburgh. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Insurance providers I work with include Aviva, Axa, and Vitality.
Currently, I serve as Principal Psychologist in a specialist inpatient service for ARBD and offer locum therapy within the NHS. I am excited to join Shore Psychology, drawn by its community-focused ethos. Together, we make high-quality psychological support accessible, meaningful, and transformational.
