Fiona Mackay Psychologist Edinburgh brings warmth, compassion, and expertise to every client interaction. I take time to understand your story, listen attentively, and respond to your unique needs effectively. At Shore Psychology, I recognise that seeking support takes courage. Many clients have faced unexpected challenges along their journey. I aim to create a safe, supportive environment where children, young people, and their families feel heard and respected.
I have extensive experience providing therapy, conducting school observations, and completing teacher interviews as part of diagnostic assessments. Moreover, I facilitate workshops on managing stress and burnout for groups of all ages using mindfulness-based techniques. By combining individual therapy with group sessions, I ensure holistic support for every client.
I specialise in therapeutic support for children, young people, and their families. Over two decades, I have built expertise in:
Attachment and parenting support
Emotional and interpersonal challenges
Behavioural, eating, toileting, and sleeping difficulties
Adjustment to diagnoses and difficult experiences
School liaison for ADHD or ASD assessments and ongoing support
Anxiety, including Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Depression and low self-esteem
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Phobias
Through these areas, I offer tailored approaches that ensure clients feel empowered. Additionally, I collaborate with schools and families to promote understanding and positive outcomes.
At Shore Psychology, I provide evidence-based therapies designed for individuals, families, and groups:
For children, young people, and families:

These approaches integrate seamlessly to meet the varied needs of each client. I continuously adapt my methods to support mental health effectively and sustainably.
I hold multiple qualifications from the University of Edinburgh:
MSc Health-related Psychology (2017, including doctorate-level thesis)
MSc Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (2007)
BSc Psychology (2002)
Additionally, I trained as a Mindfulness Teacher in 2019. I maintain professional standards through regular supervision with a Clinical Psychologist and I am a registered member of the Wider Psychology Workforce via the British Psychological Society. I also hold professional registration in Public Health (UKPHR).
I joined Shore Psychology to contribute to their vision of a Trauma-Informed Practice Centre of Excellence. I prioritise reducing power imbalances and creating an emotionally safe environment. By focusing on prevention, equality, and accessibility, I help clients access care with confidence.
Through my work in psychology and public health, I aim to improve mental health outcomes for all. My goal is to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who may struggle to access healthcare services.
