About

Founded over 20 years ago, Gateway House offers a long-term alternative to chronic hospitalisation for adults with psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. This private facility provides semi-independent, supervised living in a therapeutic community. Residents receive support in a non-institutional setting with a focus on helping individuals live as independently as possible.

  • Psychiatric Care: Psycho-pharmacological treatment and psychotherapeutic interventions are provided.
  • Independent Living Support: Training in essential skills such as cooking, grooming, and money management.
  • Residential Programmes: Semi-independent living with supervision, including assistance with day-to-day living.
  • Personalised Recovery Plans: Each resident helps develop their own recovery and care plan.
  • Therapeutic Community: Residents actively participate in the household, including meal preparation and other responsibilities.

Additional Information

Gateway House is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, case managers, and facilitators. The residential programmes are designed to provide structure while offering the flexibility to help residents live as independently as possible. Regular involvement in a treatment programme is required, and formal rules guide residents’ daily activities.
