Founded in 1920, the South African Federation for Mental Health (SAFMH) is the country’s largest mental health federation. It advocates for community mental health care, deinstitutionalisation, and the rights of those with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities. With 17 local branches across South Africa, SAFMH works alongside government and international stakeholders to improve mental health awareness and resources.
