Prof Riaan Mulder (BCHD US/UWC; MSC; PHD UWC) qualified as a dentist in 2007. He holds a Master’s degree in Restorative Dentistry and a PhD in Paediatric Dentistry from the University of the Western Cape (UWC). His PhD research focused on improving glass ionomers used for restorative dental treatment.

In 2022, Prof Mulder became the youngest Associate Professor at UWC’s Dental Faculty. Since 2008, he has also managed his own private practice. In 2014, he joined UWC as a lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry. Then, in 2019, he moved to the Prosthetic Dentistry Department. There, he trains dental students and provides specialised care to special-needs and geriatric patients.
