Dr. Turner earned her medical degree from MEDUNSA in 2011. She gained extensive experience in emergency centres, including a significant period in Worcester. In 2015, she obtained her DipPEC(SA), refining her expertise in emergency and critical care. During this time, she frequently encountered patients suffering from chronic tick-borne infections who, like her younger self, struggled to receive proper treatment.

Establishing a Dedicated Medical Practice

Frustrated by the limitations of emergency room care, Dr. Turner decided to establish her own practice in Durbanville. She focused on tick-borne infections, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and related diseases. Her patient-centered approach created a thriving community of individuals seeking comprehensive care for complex conditions.

Advancing Treatment Methods Through Global Collaboration

Recognizing that antibiotics alone were not enough, Dr. Turner expanded her research into more effective treatment methods. She collaborated with specialists in Germany and Belgium, exploring advanced medical approaches. In August 2019, she hosted her first South African conference on tick-borne diseases and tropical infections, featuring international experts. A follow-up workshop emphasized the critical role of immune system health and gut maintenance in disease recovery.

Continued Education & Specialized Training

Dr. Turner is currently completing a Fellowship in Functional Medicine and plans to pursue an ILADS Fellowship soon. She has successfully completed ILADS fundamentals and physician’s training and attended the ILADS 2024 conference in Germany. Additionally, she participates in the Neil Nathan and Jill Christa mentorship program, broadening her expertise to include mold and mycotoxins.
