Cathryn Fourie Physiotherapist Claremont is part of The Launchpad: Nicole Comninellis Inc. Physiotherapy, a multidisciplinary physiotherapy practice in the heart of Claremont. Cathryn has a strong passion for paediatrics and neonatal care, with experience in both public and private healthcare.
Cathryn earned her BSc Physiotherapy degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT). She completed clinical rotations at St Joseph’s Home and Bel Porto School, which helped build her experience in paediatrics. In 2019, she completed her community service at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, where she gained experience in NICU, PICU and paediatric wards.
At The Launchpad, Cathryn provides physiotherapy based on each client’s needs. She works with multidisciplinary practitioners (MDT) to support children and adults through personalised care.
Cathryn focuses on early intervention for children with physical challenges. She supports physical, emotional and developmental needs while helping children improve movement and reach their goals.
Cathryn provides rehabilitation for preterm infants and children who have experienced trauma or medical complications. Her services include neurodevelopmental support, physical therapy for developmental delays, post-surgery rehabilitation and therapeutic interventions for children with special needs.
As a qualified aquatic therapist, Cathryn provides aquatic physiotherapy for paediatric and adult clients. Water-based therapy can support rehabilitation, strength and pain management. It can also help clients with movement difficulties, developmental delays, or recovery after surgery or trauma.
Cathryn also supports clients recovering from physical injury or emotional trauma. Her physiotherapy and rehabilitation approach helps clients work towards improved strength, confidence and quality of life. Post-operative rehabilitation includes tailored exercise programmes, manual therapy and other treatments to support recovery.
Cathryn previously worked at H.O.P.E. Studio and the Early Bird Therapy Centre, where she worked within a multidisciplinary team and provided therapeutic services for NICU and paediatric clients, including aquatic therapy. She has since relocated to Cape Town with her husband and canine companion, JD.
The Launchpad values approachability, balance, determination and wonder. The team aims to create a welcoming space where clients feel heard while supporting children and adults as they overcome challenges.
Cathryn has completed M.A.E.S. Therapy 4-week Foundation, NDT Foundation Course (SANDTA), Aquatic Physiotherapy – Foundation Course, Little Steps: Neurodevelopmental Supportive Care of the Preterm Infant, Weaning Guidelines for Ventilated Patients, Clinical Solutions: Ultimate Taping Techniques, and Clinical Solutions: Dry Needling – Level 1.
