Jacques Erasmus Physiotherapists Observatory provides professional physiotherapy care at UCT Private Academic Hospital, also known as the “hospital with heart.” The practice began in September 2005 with a mission to provide excellent, patient-focused physiotherapy services. Since then, the team has grown into a skilled group with over 25 years of combined physiotherapy experience. The practice treats a wide range of patients, including inpatients and outpatients, while providing personalised and effective care.
The team includes experienced physiotherapists with different areas of interest. Jacques Erasmus holds a BPhysT from the University of Pretoria. He founded the practice and has a strong interest in respiratory care and rehabilitation. After completing his studies in 1999, Jacques started his career at the military hospital before moving to UCT Private Hospital. His experience helps shape the high standard of care at the practice.
Saarah Cader holds a BSc Physiotherapy from the University of the Western Cape. She completed community service in Mpumalanga in 2019. Saarah focuses on patient-centred care. She listens to each patient and uses a holistic approach to treatment. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, long drives, and time with family and friends.
Raadiyah Fortune, who holds a BSc Physiotherapy from the University of the Western Cape, has a strong interest in ICU rehabilitation, Orthopaedics, and Paediatrics. After graduating in 2019, she served in Kimberley, Northern Cape. She now brings her experience to the practice. She also enjoys outdoor activities, hiking, and painting.
Sean Julius holds a BSc Physiotherapy from the University of Cape Town. He focuses on helping patients in acute and sub-acute settings, including respiratory rehabilitation. After graduating in 2019, Sean joined the team. Outside work, he enjoys sports, exercise, and music.
The practice provides physiotherapy services for both inpatients and outpatients. Each treatment plan meets the patient’s individual needs. The team provides care for patients recovering from surgery, patients in intensive care, and people who need rehabilitation or preventive care.
The team provides inpatient physiotherapy at UCT Private Academic Hospital after a referral from a treating consultant, surgeon, or physician. Treatment can support post-operative recovery, help manage medical conditions, and assist patients with rehabilitation in the intensive care unit.
Outpatients can visit the practice without a referral unless their medical aid requires one. The team treats people with musculoskeletal pain, patients recovering from surgery, and those who need rehabilitation for different conditions.
The team first completes a detailed assessment to understand the injury or condition and identify possible causes. Next, they use suitable treatment methods to manage pain, improve function, and help prevent the problem from returning. If needed, they also provide referrals to other healthcare professionals or specialists.
The practice follows four key values: Listen, Diagnose, Treat, and Restore. The team takes time to understand each patient’s needs, assesses the causes of their condition, provides targeted treatment, and works to restore function and improve quality of life.
The practice also takes a holistic approach. As a result, the physiotherapists work with the patient’s healthcare team to provide integrated care that supports overall well-being.
If you need professional and compassionate physiotherapy care in Observatory, Jacques Erasmus Physiotherapists can help you work towards your health goals and return to your normal activities.
