Dr Richard von Bormann graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School in 1996. After completing his orthopaedic training, he pursued multiple fellowships focused on knee surgery.

He trained under renowned experts, including Dr Leo Pincewski at the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre in Australia. Additionally, he worked with Professor Freddie Fu at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre in the USA. Furthermore, he gained valuable experience at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital with Professor Mininder Kocher.

Dr von Bormann has authored numerous publications in both local and international journals. Moreover, he has co-authored textbook chapters on knee surgery. His contributions extend beyond research, as he regularly delivers instructional lectures and surgical demonstrations.
