Comprehensive Mental Health Care in Claremont, Cape Town
Dr John Wulz is a General Practitioner with a special interest in Psychiatry and altered states of consciousness. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Witwatersrand and holds a Diploma in Mental Health from the College of Medicine of South Africa.
In 2017, Dr Wulz developed a strong interest in psychiatry. Since then, he has gained valuable experience managing acute psychiatric conditions in both public healthcare and NGO sectors. He has worked in various regions, including the Eastern Cape, Cape Flats, and Cape Town, caring for a diverse range of patients.
Dr Wulz advocates for collaborative care, working alongside psychologists, counsellors, social workers, and alternative practitioners. His goal is to improve his patients’ functionality and help them find purpose within their social systems. He is dedicated to treating psychotic disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, OCD, trauma-related disorders, and ADHD.
In 2023, Dr Wulz expanded his expertise by enrolling in a Fluence workshop on psychedelic-assisted therapy. This approach allows him to work with individuals in altered states of consciousness, fostering healing through a deep understanding of their historical and societal significance.
Dr Wulz also believes that mental health care should go beyond diagnostic labels. He aims to nurture the capacity for inner healing within an empathetic and supportive environment.
Outside of work, Dr Wulz enjoys trail running, open water swimming, dancing, yoga, and reading.
