How My Midwifery Journey Began Sr Busiswe Gambu Midwife Rietondale

I earned my BCur (Nursing) degree from the University of Johannesburg. When I discovered Midwifery during my studies, I immediately felt drawn to it. I knew that moment marked the beginning of my passion. My mother, a retired nurse and midwife, played a significant role in my decision. Her stories, lessons, and encouragement kept me motivated to pursue this path.

Experience in the Labour and Post-Natal Wards

In 2019, I completed my Community Service in the Labour ward at Dr. Yusuf Dadoo Hospital in the Westrand. I worked in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Each day, I had the opportunity to support women from various backgrounds. I gained invaluable experience. Afterward, I briefly worked in the post-natal ward before transitioning to private midwifery. I realized that women deserve unique, personalized care throughout their pregnancy.

Choosing Private Midwifery Care

I chose private midwifery because I wanted to offer women individualized attention. Every woman deserves to have her voice heard. By offering private care, I ensure each woman receives the support she needs. I create a safe space where women can express their preferences and feel empowered during their pregnancy journey. Holistic Care for Every Mother and Baby

I have a deep passion for traditional midwifery practices. Sadly, many of these practices have faded over time. I aim to bring them back into midwifery care. By combining traditional and modern techniques, I provide a holistic approach that nurtures both the mother’s and baby’s well-being. From the first trimester to delivery, I support women at every stage. I ensure that every pregnancy becomes a positive, empowering experience.

When I’m not assisting with deliveries, I’m a proud mother to my son, Lesedi. Being a mom allows me to connect with families in a deeper way. I understand the joys and challenges of pregnancy, and I bring that understanding to my practice.
