Addressing Symptoms and Building Resilience by Mary Hartley Clinical Psychologist
At Mary Hartley Clinical Psychologist Woodstock, psychotherapy helps alleviate symptoms and builds resilience. While therapy can be highly effective in managing mood and anxiety disorders, it also supports people without clinical symptoms in developing more meaningful relationships, greater self-awareness, healthier coping strategies, and better stress resilience. Many people can benefit from therapy, whether dealing with emotional discomfort or seeking personal growth.
A Collaborative Approach to Therapy with Mary Hartley Clinical Psychologist
Therapy at Mary Hartley Clinical Psychologist consists of one 50-60 minute session each week, with the duration varying based on individual needs. In our first session, we discuss your concerns and create a plan to move forward. Therapy remains a collaborative process, where we determine the best approach for your healing and growth.
Although I work predominantly from a psychodynamic and relational foundation, I incorporate elements from other therapeutic frameworks when helpful. Therapy provides an opportunity to work in a supportive relationship, exploring your inner world and your relationships. We’ll also examine how your unique temperament, relationships, and life circumstances shape the way you cope with stress and relate to others.
Uncovering Patterns and Creating Change with Mary Hartley Clinical Psychologist Woodstock
Throughout our lives, relationship dynamics and coping mechanisms evolve, shaped by experiences and our environment. These patterns, though difficult to change, sometimes contribute to maintaining distress. At Mary Hartley Clinical Psychologist, we dive deep to uncover the root causes of your challenges. By examining both conscious and unconscious choices, we identify what may contribute to painful emotions, repetitive relationship issues, and clinical symptoms. With therapeutic support, we work toward creating healthier, more adaptive ways of being.
What to Expect in Your First Session
In your first session at Mary Hartley Clinical Psychologist, you’ll enter a confidential and welcoming space. I will ask you about your concerns and gather background information to understand your struggles. You’ll also have the chance to ask any questions about therapy. By the end of the session, we will discuss the way forward. In some cases, I may suggest we begin with three sessions as an assessment before deciding if ongoing therapy is beneficial.
