At Ukukhanya Centre, the founder and lead counsellor, Ntombi Madhina, brings a wealth of experience and compassion to her practice. Ntombi’s passion for counselling began during her childhood when she volunteered at children’s homes during school holidays. She realised the profound impact of offering care and support, which inspired her to pursue a career centred on helping others.
Ntombi completed her Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Pretoria in 2015, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health in 2019. These qualifications, combined with her extensive practical experience, equip her to address complex health issues in both individuals and communities. Ntombi also plays an integral role in South Africa’s Children’s Courts, where she conducts assessments, provides expert testimony, and develops tailored care plans for children in judicial proceedings.
Through Ukukhanya Centre, Ntombi seeks to foster hope and healing. She is committed to empowering individuals and families, helping them overcome obstacles and embrace fulfilling, meaningful lives.
Ukukhanya Centre provides a range of therapeutic services designed to support individuals and families in navigating life’s challenges.
In family counselling, Ntombi works with families to enhance communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships. She helps families better understand each other and provides strategies to manage major life transitions effectively.
For those facing personal struggles, such as anxiety, depression, or trauma, Ukukhanya Centre offers individual counselling. Ntombi tailors each session to meet the specific needs of the client, helping them gain clarity, build resilience, and develop coping strategies.
The Centre offers specialised counselling for children and adolescents, providing a safe space for them to express their feelings. Ntombi helps young people navigate challenges like peer pressure, academic stress, and family issues, empowering them to build emotional resilience.
As part of her work with the Children’s Courts, Ntombi provides assessments and expert testimony to support judicial processes. She collaborates with legal professionals to ensure that children’s needs are considered in legal decisions, while also creating personalised care plans to aid in their recovery and well-being.
