My name is Matt Verguson, and I am a private counsellor based in Bradford city centre, conveniently accessible from Keighley, Leeds, and Halifax. I founded therapy5 to support adults in overcoming life’s challenges and finding hope. My goal is to help individuals explore the pressures they face, allowing them to feel better about their lives and relationships.
With years of experience and a strong commitment to personal growth and learning, I offer professional counselling services for those struggling with a range of issues. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, difficult childhood experiences, or relational problems, therapy5 provides a confidential and supportive space to work through your concerns.
Anxiety and depression can take a heavy toll on your mental and emotional health. At therapy5, I provide tailored support to help you manage these conditions, understand their root causes, and develop coping strategies that promote emotional stability and resilience.
Past trauma, including difficult childhood experiences, can significantly impact your present-day relationships and well-being. I work with clients to process unresolved trauma and its effects, helping them move forward with greater self-awareness and emotional healing. Whether it’s childhood abuse, neglect, or emotional wounds, therapy can provide a path toward recovery and growth.
Many of the challenges people face in their lives stem from difficulties in their relationships. I offer relational therapy to help individuals and couples understand the dynamics of their interactions. This can include improving communication, setting healthy boundaries, and resolving conflicts. Together, we work to strengthen your relationships, ensuring they are more fulfilling and supportive.
Every client is unique, and my approach to therapy is always tailored to suit your specific needs. I take the time to understand your struggles, providing support that aligns with your goals and helps you create lasting positive change.
I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Interpersonal and Counselling Skills, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. These qualifications, combined with years of experience in the mental health and addiction sectors, enable me to provide effective and compassionate therapy. In addition to my academic background, I commit to ongoing professional development and attend regular training courses to stay up-to-date with the latest therapeutic practices.
My experience includes working in various settings, such as a general counselling service in Bradford and a local men’s prison, where I continue to volunteer. I have also worked with families affected by drug and alcohol use at a Bradford charity. My diverse background allows me to offer a broad range of therapeutic support, with particular expertise in trauma, attachment issues, and relational counselling.
As a Relational therapist, my focus is on understanding the relationship you have with yourself and with others. Our early relationships with caregivers often shape how we connect with people throughout our lives. Together, we will explore these relational patterns, helping you make positive changes that lead to healthier, more fulfilling connections with yourself and others.
My approach is interactive and engaged. I aim to create a safe and open space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and emotions. I don’t simply sit back and listen – I actively participate, providing feedback and guidance to support your growth.
If you’re unsure whether therapy5 is the right fit for you, I offer a free 30-minute initial phone conversation. This session allows us to discuss your concerns and determine whether we can work together to achieve your therapeutic goals. Whether you’re looking for short-term support or longer-term therapy, I’m here to help you on your journey to emotional well-being.
