Supporting the Body’s Natural Healing — Unlocking Stress, Restoring Health

About BSR Wellness

BSR Wellness is led by certified Body Stress Release practitioner, Samantha Mitchelmore, who operates from two welcoming locations in Cape Town:
– 26 Whimbrel Avenue, Flamingo Vlei, Table View
– 36 Franklin Road, Claremont

Samantha’s personal path to Body Stress Release (BSR) began in 2012 while seeking relief from advanced Crohn’s disease. Experiencing the profound healing effects of BSR first-hand inspired her to pursue formal training in the modality so that she could help others on their own wellness journeys.

At BSR Wellness, Samantha offers a supportive and personalised approach to stress relief and physical wellness for individuals of all ages, from infants to the elderly. Clients can expect compassionate, professional care in a safe and peaceful environment.

What is Body Stress Release?

Body Stress Release (BSR) is a gentle, non-invasive health technique designed to assist the body in releasing locked-in stress and tension that accumulates over time. Stress overload — whether physical, chemical, emotional, or mental — can cause the body to store tension in its muscles and soft tissue. This can lead to a variety of symptoms, including:

  • Back and neck pain

  • Stiffness or cramping

  • Sciatica and nerve discomfort

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Distorted posture and muscle weakness

  • Numbness and tingling sensations

  • Digestive disturbances such as constipation

  • Anxiety and stress-related symptoms

BSR is especially helpful for:

  • Pregnancy-related discomfort

  • Stress headaches and migraines

  • Posture-related pain

  • Occupational or “corporate” stress

  • Infants and young children

  • Older clients managing mobility and age-related tension

  • Sporting injuries and repetitive strain

The BSR Journey

BSR focuses on working with the body’s natural self-healing capacity and is structured in three key phases:

Intensive Phase
A structured beginning with three scheduled appointments:

  • Day 1: Initial consultation and release session

  • Day 4: First follow-up

  • Day 11: Second follow-up

Rehabilitation Phase
Ongoing appointments once a week or fortnightly, depending on the severity and nature of the case, to help the body stabilise as healing progresses.

Maintenance Phase
To support long-term wellness, clients are encouraged to schedule monthly or six-weekly appointments as part of their regular self-care routine.

Additional Information

BSR works without the use of medication, machines, massage, pressure points or manipulation. The practitioner uses gentle but precise movements to identify and release areas of stored stress, allowing the nervous system to function optimally and the body to heal naturally.

BSR’s roots lie in South Africa, developed by Gail and Ewald Meggersee in the 1980s. From its humble beginnings in Cape Town, the method has spread worldwide, with the Body Stress Release Academy established in the Western Cape to train practitioners globally.
