About Us

Stephen Brannigan Physio in Newry is led by Stephen Brannigan MCSP HCPC MSOM, a specialist in sports injury, physiotherapy, and injection therapy. Stephen qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in June 2000 from the University of Ulster, Jordanstown. Early in his career, he worked for five seasons as first-team physiotherapist at Birmingham City Football Club. Four of these seasons were in the Premier League. During this time, he treated top international players such as Republic of Ireland captain Kenny Cunningham, French World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry, and Northern Ireland captain Maik Taylor. He also worked with Trinidad and Tobago captain Dwight Yorke, as well as England internationals Emile Heskey, Nicky Butt, and Matthew Upson.

Stephen has experience with professional golfer Peter Baker, who achieved nine tour wins and served as 2006 Ryder Cup Vice Captain. After Birmingham City FC, Stephen joined The Physio Group as a partner in 2006. Later, in 2019, he founded Stephen Brannigan Physio. Moreover, he was the physiotherapist for the Down Senior Gaelic Football team between 2006 and 2009.
