About Pilates Oxford

Pilates Oxford is a trusted name in the local community for expert-led mat-based Pilates classes and personalised one-to-one tuition. All sessions are led by Steph Taylor, a highly qualified Chartered Physiotherapist with a long-standing background in musculoskeletal care. Her training under the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) ensures that each class follows evidence-based principles tailored for all levels.

Classes take place in Headington, Oxford, and are open to individuals of all abilities. Whether you’re new to Pilates or returning after injury, the sessions are accessible, inclusive, and designed to meet you where you are. No prior Pilates experience is necessary.

Services Offered

At Pilates Oxford, Steph runs mixed-ability mat-based classes that cater to a wide range of needs. These group sessions focus on core strength, postural alignment, flexibility, and injury prevention. Steph also provides individualised one-to-one sessions, which are particularly useful for those with specific rehabilitation goals or chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Each session blends physiotherapy expertise with Pilates technique. Because Steph is both a clinician and an instructor, she adapts exercises in real-time to ensure that participants receive the most effective and safe workout possible.

Additionally, Pilates Oxford welcomes individuals managing a variety of conditions. These include back pain, joint issues, sports injuries, and post-natal recovery. Steph’s physiotherapy background enables her to adjust each routine to support recovery and prevent further injury.

Meet Steph Taylor

Steph qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1992 after completing her degree at Birmingham University. She followed this with a Diploma in Sports Medicine from St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1997. Her academic journey didn’t end there. More recently, she earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Health Research from Southampton University, further deepening her clinical insight.

Since qualifying as a Pilates instructor with APPI in 2005, Steph has consistently brought her physiotherapy knowledge into the Pilates studio. She began her teaching career with post-natal Pilates classes and has since expanded her offerings to evening group sessions that support a broad demographic.

Currently, Steph also works at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, where she integrates Pilates into her daily clinical practice. Her dual role ensures that all sessions at Pilates Oxford are grounded in up-to-date clinical standards and adapted for real-life health challenges.

Additional Information

Pilates Oxford stands out for its fusion of physiotherapy and Pilates. Steph’s classes do not follow a one-size-fits-all format. Instead, they are designed with individual needs in mind, ensuring a safer and more personalised experience. Whether you’re aiming to improve your posture, manage pain, or build strength, Pilates Oxford offers professional guidance in a supportive environment.
