Salford Physiotherapy offers a leading physiotherapy degree programme in Greater Manchester. Accredited by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the course takes a whole-person approach to physical and mental wellbeing. Physiotherapy is a science-based profession that focuses on helping individuals affected by injury, illness, or disability to restore or maintain movement and function.
At Salford, students benefit from teaching delivered by experienced professionals, including clinical specialists, researchers, textbook authors, and practising physiotherapists. Learning takes place in purpose-built facilities equipped with cutting-edge technology, which allows students to gain hands-on experience throughout their training.
The university welcomes both full-time and part-time students. Those interested in flexible learning can explore the part-time route on the dedicated course page. By the time students graduate, they will have developed the confidence and skills to move seamlessly into clinical practice.
Salford’s outstanding reputation is reflected in national rankings. In 2025, The Guardian University Guide ranked the course sixth in the UK and first in the North of England. Meanwhile, the Complete University Guide placed it fourth for student satisfaction and first in the North West. Additionally, The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide recognised Salford as first in England for both teaching quality and student satisfaction.
The degree covers three academic years and provides structured, practical training from the outset.
Year One
Students focus on core knowledge, including anatomy, physiology, and pathology. They learn to assess and manage upper and lower limb conditions while developing their clinical reasoning skills.
Year Two
The curriculum expands to cover neurological, cardio-respiratory, and spinal conditions. At the same time, students explore behaviour change and health promotion through structured research activities.
Year Three
In the final year, students take greater responsibility for their own learning. They develop independence and refine their approach to clinical decision-making and professional development.
Throughout all years, students complete several clinical placements. These placements provide real-world experience, preparing them for a smooth transition into professional roles.
Salford Physiotherapy actively supports diversity and welcomes applications from international students. Graduates are eligible to register with the HCPC and join the CSP.
Notably, 94.4% of 2021/22 graduates entered highly skilled employment (Complete University Guide 2024). This strong employment rate reflects the course’s focus on practical skills, problem-solving, and patient-centred care.
If you’re curious about how the body heals, enjoy working with people, and want to develop your clinical knowledge, this programme offers a rewarding and respected pathway into physiotherapy.
