Novus Wellbeing Wakefield

About

Novus Wellbeing Wakefield specialises in Adult Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy. This service focuses on assessing and treating the muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, joints, nerves, and related structures. The primary aim is to improve your movement and strength, allowing you to return to your normal activities more comfortably. Novus Wellbeing also helps patients understand and manage their conditions through expert guidance and personalised care.

Novus Wellbeing offers a self-referral system, making physiotherapy accessible without the need for a GP referral, which helps reduce waiting times and simplifies the process for patients. The service is designed for adults aged 16 and over, with those under 18 requiring an adult present at all appointments. As part of the self-referral process, patients are registered onto the system and asked to complete a short questionnaire about their symptoms and expectations.

Services

Novus Wellbeing Wakefield provides a range of MSK physiotherapy services tailored to individual needs, including:

  • Musculoskeletal Assessment: Comprehensive evaluation of musculoskeletal issues to identify the root causes of pain or dysfunction.

  • Treatment and Rehabilitation: Hands-on treatment combined with exercises aimed at restoring movement, strength, and function.

  • Patient Education: Guidance on managing conditions and preventing future injury through lifestyle changes and exercise.

  • Self-Referral System: Adults can refer themselves directly for physiotherapy assessment and treatment, speeding up access to care.

  • Symptom Monitoring: Ongoing assessment to ensure treatment remains effective and goals are being met.

Novus Wellbeing focuses on personalised treatment plans that empower patients to take an active role in their recovery.

Additional Information

Novus Wellbeing does not recommend self-referral for certain conditions or symptoms. If you experience severe or acute symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, persistent cough, fever, visual disturbance, severe headaches, nausea or vomiting, speech or swallowing difficulties, dizziness, or blackouts, you should seek medical attention from your GP or emergency services instead.

The service also cannot accept self-referrals if you are:

  • Under 16 years old (under 18s require an adult present at appointments)

  • In need of home visits (these should be referred by your GP to Domiciliary Physiotherapy Services)

  • Suffering from neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, or Parkinson’s disease

  • Seeking treatment for respiratory conditions such as COPD

Novus Wellbeing works in partnership with patients and other healthcare providers to ensure safe, effective, and convenient care. By enabling self-referral, they strive to improve access to quality physiotherapy services across the Wakefield area, helping patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and enhance their overall quality of life.
