About

Excel Sports Clinic is a well-established Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy centre located in York. Founded in 2010 by Tom Robinson, the clinic initially operated from Fitness First gym. In 2012, Adi Hammond joined the team, and by 2016, Excel moved to its first bespoke Rehab and Performance Centre in Clifton Moor. In late 2021, the clinic relocated to new, purpose-fitted premises on Clifton Moor. The facility now includes five consultation rooms, a fully equipped strength and conditioning gym, and a comfortable reception and waiting area.

All staff members hold degrees in Sports Therapy or Physiotherapy. They are registered with the Society of Sports Therapists or the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists. Many have experience working full time in professional sports, bringing valuable insight to the treatment of patients and clients. This professional background ensures that the clinic delivers the highest standard of care.

Excel Sports Clinic’s team is led by Tom Robinson, a BSc (Hons) Sports Therapist with extensive experience in professional sport, including roles at York City Football Club. His approach focuses on evidence-based care and patient education to foster independence in managing injuries.

Adi Hammond, who joined in 2012, brings a first-class honours degree in Sports Therapy and extensive experience working with both elite athletes and the general public. She has also worked in fitness coaching and rehabilitation at York City FC, combining hands-on therapy with conditioning expertise.

The clinic’s team also includes Charlotte Stamp, a physiotherapist with dual first-class degrees in Physiotherapy and Sport and Exercise Science, and Emily Cooper, a Sport Therapist with a background in rugby team support and sports massage.
