At Adelaide Acute Physiotherapy, we provide essential in-patient physiotherapy services to private hospitals in Adelaide, with a core focus on acute care and post-operative recovery. Since 2015, our team has been proud to serve St Andrew’s Hospital on South Terrace, delivering professional, patient-led care tailored to those recovering from surgery or managing complex medical needs.
Led by experienced directors Dashanka Soodan and Vivienne Maxwell, our team of qualified physiotherapists is fully accredited and equipped to work in fast-paced hospital settings. We understand that the period after surgery or during acute illness can be stressful and challenging, which is why our approach centres on helping patients recover safely, regain independence, and return home with confidence.
Acute In-Patient Physiotherapy
We specialise in delivering personalised physiotherapy services directly within the hospital. Whether patients are recovering from orthopaedic surgery, general surgery, or managing respiratory or neurological conditions, we provide targeted support at every stage.
Our interventions are:
Evidence-based and patient-specific
Guided by collaborative planning with the patient’s medical team
Focused on goals that matter to the patient—whether it’s walking to the bathroom unassisted or preparing for discharge
Post-Surgical Recovery and Rehabilitation
In the critical care environment, time matters. That’s why we work closely with nursing and medical teams in areas such as:
Intensive Care Units (ICU)
Emergency departments
Rehabilitation wards
Surgical and obstetric units
Our therapists play a key role in preventing complications like chest infections or immobility-related issues and aim to speed up functional recovery through hands-on treatment and mobility programs.
Discharge Planning
We’re not just about what happens in hospital—we help patients prepare for life beyond it. We contribute to discharge planning by assessing home safety, equipment needs, and any ongoing physiotherapy requirements, ensuring a smooth transition.
Our team is made up of committed and highly skilled professionals:
Dashanka Soodan, Director – BPhysio
Vivienne Maxwell, Director – BPhysio
Kally Matsouliadis, Physiotherapist – BASc (Physio)
Luke Strempel, Physiotherapist – BPhysio, Master of Musculoskeletal & Sports Physiotherapy
Wendy Bampton, Physiotherapist – BAppSc (Physio), Masters of Physiotherapy (Rural and Remote), Diploma of Population Health
Kanwarjeet Singh, Physiotherapist – BPhysical Therapy, Masters in Physiotherapy
Together, we bring decades of combined experience and a shared dedication to patient wellbeing. At Adelaide Acute Physiotherapy, we believe in supporting patients through every stage of their hospital journey, using care that’s professional, compassionate, and clinically sound.
