Adiela Ismail Clinical Psychologist practices at Perspectives Psychology Group in Claremont, Cape Town. She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from Stellenbosch University. After graduating, she completed her internship and community service with the Department of Defence. Consequently, she provided therapy at 2 Military Hospital, Gordon’s Bay, Eerste River, and Bredasdorp. Through these roles, she learned to tailor treatments to each client’s needs.
For over ten years, Adiela led the Psychological Services unit at 2 Military Hospital’s voluntary inpatient psychiatric ward. There, she supervised interns and delivered therapy for psychosis, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. Moreover, she collaborated with medical teams in general medicine, rehabilitation, orthopaedics, and palliative care. As a result, she developed a holistic approach that blends psychological and medical support.
Later, Adiela trained in Neuropsychology. Under the HPCSA’s grandfather clause, she gained registration as a Neuropsychologist. She then focused on post-traumatic brain injury (TBI) rehabilitation and geriatric cognitive care. Therefore, her assessments always aim to improve clients’ daily functioning and quality of life.
Adiela grounds her work in psychodynamic principles. Accordingly, she guides clients to explore how past experiences shape present behaviors. She believes that insight sparks lasting change. Thus, she empowers clients to become active participants in their healing journey.
