Amanda Hardy is a highly skilled physiotherapist who specialises in pelvic health and continence care. She began her studies at La Trobe University in Melbourne, where she also launched her early physiotherapy career. Seeking a change of pace, Amanda moved to Airlie Beach. She lived and worked there for two years before taking an eight-month trip around Australia. Eventually, she settled in Cairns in 2020, where she has continued her clinical work ever since.
Amanda has long been passionate about pelvic health. In 2017, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Exercise and Women’s Health at the University of Melbourne. This course sparked her commitment to advanced learning in the field. To further her expertise, she went on to complete a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy, specialising in Continence and Pelvic Health, at Curtin University in 2022.
In addition, Amanda has contributed to academic research. Her Master’s research project was published in 2024 in the Journal of Women’s & Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. This achievement reflects her dedication not only to clinical work but also to advancing knowledge in her area of practice.
Amanda offers a wide range of physiotherapy services with a focus on pelvic health. Her approach is patient-centred, evidence-based, and always delivered with professionalism and care.
Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
Amanda treats various pelvic health conditions, such as pelvic floor dysfunction, prolapse, pelvic pain, and incontinence. She uses advanced assessment tools and personalised treatment plans to ensure effective results.
Continence Physiotherapy
She supports clients experiencing urinary or bowel incontinence. Her treatment often includes pelvic floor muscle training, bladder retraining, education, and behavioural strategies. These methods aim to restore control and improve daily comfort.
Women’s Health and Exercise
Amanda helps women at different life stages, including adolescence, pregnancy, and menopause. She offers customised exercise programmes that align with the client’s health status, physical goals, and hormonal changes.
Pre- and Post-Natal Care
Pregnancy and childbirth can place considerable stress on the body. Amanda provides care before and after birth to reduce discomfort, strengthen muscles, and support long-term recovery.
Amanda takes time to understand each client’s individual needs. She creates a supportive, respectful space where clients feel comfortable discussing sensitive health concerns. Her care goes beyond treatment, with education and prevention also playing key roles in her approach.
Based in Cairns, Amanda is available for both referred and self-referred clients. She works closely with GPs and specialists to ensure continuity of care. Her goal is to improve quality of life through targeted, compassionate physiotherapy.
If you are seeking expert pelvic health physiotherapy delivered with clinical excellence and genuine empathy, Amanda Hardy is here to help.
