Archways York is part of a major NHS Foundation Trust that provides a wide range of acute hospital and specialist healthcare services to around 800,000 people living across York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire, and Ryedale. Covering an extensive area of approximately 3,400 square miles, the Trust operates across eight hospital sites and employs roughly 10,000 staff members. These dedicated professionals work both within hospitals and the wider community to deliver high-quality care.

The Trust manages an annual turnover close to £1 billion and remains accountable to an elected and appointed Council of Governors. This structure ensures that the organisation is guided by representatives from the local community, maintaining a focus on patient needs and service excellence.

  • 100,613 attendances at Urgent Care Centres across its sites

  • 779,908 outpatient appointments, including telephone and video consultations

  • 160,808 adult inpatient admissions, including maternity care

  • 9,921 inpatient admissions for children

  • 121,700 operations or procedures carried out as inpatient cases

  • 3,916 babies delivered

These figures highlight the comprehensive nature of the services provided, from emergency care to outpatient support and specialist treatments.

Additional Information

Archways York is also proud to serve as a teaching hospital in partnership with the Hull York Medical School (HYMS). This collaboration supports clinical placements and the education of future doctors at both Scarborough and York hospitals.
