Ashley May Paediatric Physiotherapist Pinelands provides expert, family-centred physiotherapy to help children reach developmental milestones and build their physical skills.
Ashley May Physiotherapy was established in 2020 by Ashley May, a skilled physiotherapist with a special interest in paediatrics. She provides evidence-based care that focuses on each child and their family. Ashley holds a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Cape Town. During her studies, she received the prestigious Jannes Karl Wilhelm Binnewald Trophy for the best final-year student in Clinical Physiotherapy.
After graduating, Ashley completed her Community Service year at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. This experience grew her passion for paediatric physiotherapy. It also shaped her focus on working with a multi-disciplinary team. Furthermore, she plans to grow her skills through further studies in Neurodevelopment Therapy (NDT) and Movement Analysis Education Strategies (MAES).
Ashley uses play-based therapy to make sessions fun and engaging. As a result, children can enjoy therapy while working towards important developmental goals. Her care supports children of all ages and helps them work towards their full potential.
Ashley May Paediatric Physiotherapist Pinelands treats a wide range of developmental and medical conditions, including:
Ashley May Paediatric Physiotherapist Pinelands offers developmental assessment and therapy, high-risk infant screening, treatment for low-toned babies, and balance, coordination and posture therapy. In addition, she provides orthopaedic and rheumatological rehabilitation, neurological condition therapy and genetic condition therapy.
She also offers telehealth physiotherapy as an approved service by the Health Professions Council of South Africa. This provides added convenience and safety, particularly in the current climate.
At Ashley May Physiotherapy, Ashley works with other healthcare professionals involved in a child’s care, including paediatricians, occupational therapists and speech therapists. Therefore, she can support a collaborative approach to treatment.
Each session is designed around the child’s individual needs. Through play-based techniques and evidence-based methods, children can improve their physical abilities and gain confidence when trying new things. Whether a child has delayed milestones, coordination difficulties or needs rehabilitation after surgery, Ashley May Physiotherapy provides care to support their development and wellbeing.
