About Us

Aspire Fitness, established in 2005, was founded with the mission to offer expert, research-based personal training. Unlike many fitness trends, our approach focuses on proven techniques and scientific methods. We opened our own gym and personal training facility in 2008 and have grown to the point where we now deliver 200 sessions per week.

Our team is led by highly experienced professionals, each with extensive backgrounds in various aspects of fitness, health, and rehabilitation. We are dedicated to helping our clients recover from injuries, achieve their fitness goals, and improve overall well-being.

Our Team

Joe Timmins

Joe Timmins is one of the UK’s most experienced and successful personal trainers, with over 20 years in the industry. Co-founder of Aspire Fitness, Joe’s interests lie in endurance training, particularly ultra-distance events. Having competed in races such as the Montane 50 Mile Ultra-marathon and the Dragon’s Back Race twice, Joe’s expertise in endurance sports is second to none. He also co-founded the ‘Run Walk Crawl’ race series, featuring 7 trail and ultra-running events in South Wales. Joe’s focus extends to nutrition for performance, exercise prescription for individuals with medical conditions, and improving function across the lifespan.

Ben Morris

Co-founder of Aspire Fitness and Aspire Adventure, Ben Morris brings more than 20 years of experience in personal training and strength coaching. A former Division 1 Rugby Union player, Ben has an MSc in Sport, Health, and Exercise Science. He is renowned for his expertise in strength and conditioning for health and performance. Ben has competed in numerous extreme mountain running events, including five completions of the Dragons Back Race and several ultra-endurance mountain races. His research and practical knowledge in strength training for long-distance running have made him a leader in his field. Ben also teaches on the undergraduate and postgraduate Sport and Exercise Science degrees at the University of South Wales.

Pete Smith

Pete Smith, a qualified physiotherapist and personal trainer with a master’s degree in sports medicine, specialises in injury rehabilitation and improving functional movement. His career began in the Army, where he competed in various endurance sports, including the Cyprus Mountain Marathon. Pete has been training clients since 2003 and combines his expertise in injury assessment with strength training. He works as a first-contact physiotherapist in a local GP surgery and is one of the UK’s leading experts in injury treatment and rehabilitation. Pete’s personal interests include Olympic weightlifting and road cycling.

Mark Drew

Mark Drew’s career in fitness began in the Army, and after transitioning to civilian life, he became a personal trainer. Mark’s passion lies in long-course triathlons, having competed in events such as the Tenby Ironman and the Snowdon Marathon. Mark joined Aspire Fitness in 2007, bringing years of experience in triathlons, marathon training, and middle-distance events. James Andreassan

James Andreassan is the newest member of the Aspire team. A dedicated weight training enthusiast, James enjoys working with people of all ages and fitness levels. His approachable manner and enthusiasm for fitness make him a valued member of the Aspire team, helping clients achieve their personal goals.
