At Belfast CBT Clinic, our mission is to help individuals overcome emotional difficulties and achieve their personal goals. Life can often feel overwhelming, with periods of stress, anxiety, or depression affecting even the strongest among us. We understand these challenges and offer professional support in a confidential, non-judgemental environment.
Located on the Lisburn Road in Belfast, we provide face-to-face therapy sessions designed to help clients break free from negative patterns of thinking and behaviour. For those who prefer the convenience of remote support, we also offer online counselling sessions.
Our approach focuses on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a structured, evidence-based intervention proven to help individuals overcome a wide range of psychological difficulties. Working together, we will identify the ‘vicious cycles’ that maintain your struggles and create a personalised treatment plan aimed at positive change.
CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented therapy that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. At Belfast CBT Clinic, we teach clients practical skills to challenge negative thinking patterns and replace them with healthier alternatives. By changing how you think and act, CBT can help you feel better and manage life’s challenges more effectively.
Clients can attend in-person therapy sessions at our welcoming consulting room on Lisburn Road, Belfast. Here, in a safe and private setting, you can openly discuss your concerns and work towards achievable goals with professional guidance.
We also offer secure online counselling sessions for clients who prefer therapy from the comfort of their own home. This flexible option provides the same level of care and support as in-person sessions, making it easier to fit therapy into a busy lifestyle.
Each individual is unique, and so is our approach. We work closely with clients to develop a tailored treatment plan that addresses specific concerns and goals. Our aim is to provide practical tools and strategies that can be applied in everyday life.
Belfast CBT Clinic is led by Dr Katie Trainor, a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist accredited by the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Dr Trainor holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a Masters degree, and a PhD from Ulster University. In addition, she completed her professional CBT training at Queen’s University Belfast.
With over seven years of experience working in mental health services, Dr Trainor has supported clients facing a wide range of anxiety and mood-related difficulties. She specialises in helping individuals identify their personal goals, break free from distressing cycles, and improve their emotional well-being.
