Birmingham Healthy Minds – Mental Health Services for Birmingham and Solihull

About Us

Welcome to Birmingham Healthy Minds, part of the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. We are proud to provide a wide range of high-quality mental health services to the communities of Birmingham, Solihull, and the wider West Midlands. With a focus on compassionate, inclusive, and accessible care, our Trust supports individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

As one of the largest and most diverse mental health trusts in the UK, we operate from over 40 sites, supporting a population of 1.3 million across 172 square miles. Our dedicated team of around 4,000 staff work tirelessly to deliver inpatient, community, and specialist mental health services, making us one of the most innovative and comprehensive mental health providers in the country.

We understand that mental health support should be as unique as the people we serve. That’s why our services are designed to meet the varied emotional, psychological, and social needs of our population—always with dignity, equality, and respect at the core.

Services

At Birmingham Healthy Minds, we offer a wide range of mental health services that cater to both common and complex needs. Our services include:

  • General Mental Health Support – Help for anxiety, depression, low mood, stress, and emotional well-being.

  • Inpatient Care – Safe, supportive environments for those in need of more intensive treatment.

  • Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) – Localised care and support delivered within the community.

  • Specialist Services – Including support for eating disorders, psychosis, personality disorders, and trauma.

  • Older Adult Services – Tailored support for mental health challenges linked to ageing and cognitive change.

  • Early Intervention Teams – For individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis or other early symptoms.

  • Crisis and Urgent Care – Rapid response teams and 24/7 services for people in immediate need.

We also work in close partnership with other healthcare providers, social care services, voluntary organisations, and community groups to ensure integrated, person-centred care.

Additional Information

The Trust is home to Caring Minds, our official charity. This charitable arm raises funds to provide the “extras” that NHS funding doesn’t cover—such as specialist equipment, therapeutic resources, and service-user events. It plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of service users, carers, and staff across the Trust.

Beyond clinical care, we are also involved in research and development, training, and equality and inclusion initiatives. We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and uphold the highest standards of ethical practice and transparency.
