About

Lorne Pierce, MA, R. Psych. (CHCPBC No. 1646) brings over 20 years of experience in the helping professions. He has worked in both government and private settings, dedicating himself to private practice since 1999. In 2005, he became a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.

Lorne specialises in Forensic Psychological Risk Assessments for violence and sexual violence cases. The BC Supreme Court has called on him as an Expert Witness due to his expertise. He has also facilitated a Nationally Accredited Violence Prevention Program, covering Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, and Assertiveness Training.

Beyond forensic work, Lorne has extensive experience in child and youth mental health. His internship training at Child and Youth Mental Health Services prepared him to work as both a Social Worker and Child Therapist. His therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Humanistic/Existential models.

Additional Information

Billing & Insurance

At Cedar Ridge Counselling, the rate for psychological services is $220 per hour. Many extended health benefit plans offer reimbursement, though coverage varies. Some insurers require a Medical Doctor’s referral, and plans may have annual limits, deductibles, or partial coverage (e.g., 80% reimbursement).

For convenience, we provide direct billing to several insurance providers, including:

  • Canada Life, Chamber of Commerce, CINUP, COWAN, Desjardins, Equitable Life, First Canadian, Green Shield Canada, Group Health, iA Financial, Manulife, Pacific Blue Cross, SSQ Insurance

  • Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) – A user fee of $75 per hour may apply.

  • Medavie Blue Cross – Coverage includes RCMP, Veteran Affairs Canada (VAC), and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).

Because each insurance plan differs, we encourage clients to confirm their coverage with their provider.
