Founded in 2007 by Lynsey Waterhouse, Changeworks is a psychotherapy and counselling service based on inclusive and anti-oppressive principles. Lynsey is a highly experienced Family and Systemic Psychotherapist (MSc) who works with both children and adults. With a deep commitment to collaborative therapy, Lynsey helps families, individuals, and organisations navigate emotional challenges and relational difficulties.
Over the years, she has extended her work beyond private sessions. She frequently partners with organisations to deliver therapy services, systemic consultations, reflective practice sessions, and bespoke workshops. Every aspect of her approach reflects a passion for helping people move towards more fulfilling communication, healthier relationships, and greater emotional well-being.
Family Therapists are trained to understand and work with the dynamics that shape relationships. Lynsey focuses on the patterns of conversation between individuals—especially when those interactions cause frustration, misunderstanding, or emotional distance. Through a systemic lens, she considers the broader social and cultural context, acknowledging how factors such as power, gender, education, ability, and culture can shape communication and relationships.
Whether you’re a parent struggling with your child’s behaviour, a couple experiencing recurring conflict, or an individual facing emotional distress within the family system, systemic therapy offers a supportive space to explore and change unhelpful patterns.
Changeworks welcomes and supports neurodiverse families. Whether you have a formal diagnosis or self-identify, you will find a safe and inclusive environment. Lynsey tailors each session to suit different communication needs, including verbal and non-verbal methods. She uses tools such as word boards, ACC, and individualised communication systems to ensure every voice is heard and understood.
Lynsey’s work with trauma integrates body-based practices informed by Somatic Trauma Therapy (Babette Rothschild) and Somatic Experiencing (Peter Levine). These approaches recognise that trauma is often stored in the body, not just the mind. Therefore, her sessions may include elements of mindfulness, storytelling, narrative therapy, and somatic awareness. These techniques encourage gentle exploration of past experiences while supporting present-moment grounding.
At Changeworks, therapy is not a one-size-fits-all service. Instead, Lynsey adopts a flexible, creative, and collaborative approach rooted in lived experience and evidence-based practice. She balances professional knowledge with curiosity, playfulness, and respect for each client’s unique story.
If you are seeking a therapist who respects your perspective, values context, and works with the whole person—not just the symptoms—then Changeworks provides a thoughtful and empowering space for change.
