About Claire Lund Clinical Psychologist Claremont Cape Town
Claire holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of the Western Cape. She completed her clinical internship at Tygerberg and Stikland Hospitals. During this time, she worked in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Adult Neuropsychiatry, and Addiction Treatment. At Stikland Hospital, she provided psychological services in the alcohol addiction unit.
After her internship, Claire completed community service at Drakenstein/Victor Verster Prison. There, she provided psychological care to offenders. These roles gave her broad clinical experience and helped her develop a caring approach.
In 2012, Claire opened her private practice in Mouille Point. She then moved to the Cape Town Medispa in 2013. From 2013 to 2021, she also lectured and supervised Bachelor of Psychology students at Pearson Institute of Higher Education. Since 2021, Claire has focused on full-time practice, offering both digital and in-person therapy.
Therapeutic Approach
Claire mainly uses psychodynamic principles. However, she adjusts her approach to each client’s needs. She believes that a strong therapeutic relationship supports meaningful and lasting change.
Therefore, she creates a supportive and collaborative space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings. Her approach remains professional, warm, and empathetic.

Her psychodynamic approach also uses current research and therapeutic techniques.
2. Young Adult Psychotherapy
Claire helps young adults manage the move from adolescence into adulthood. Getting Started: The Initial Assessment
Before therapy begins, Claire offers a three-session assessment. The process helps identify key areas of focus, decide whether therapy suits the client’s current needs, and choose the best therapeutic approach. It also gives both client and therapist time to decide whether they are a good fit.
