Colleen Law is a dual-registered Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist practising exclusively within the Babies in Mind network in the Southern Suburbs and Milnerton, Cape Town. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and her Master’s in Research Psychology—both cum laude—from Potchefstroom University in 2004 and 2005. Consequently, she developed a strong foundation in psychological assessment and therapeutic intervention.
After joining the Babies in Mind network, Colleen focused her expertise on maternal-infant mental health, delivering specialised care to mothers and infants during the perinatal period. Moreover, she leads the Colleen Law Psychology Services team, which operates under the Babies in Mind banner. There, she collaborates with fellow network practitioners to design attachment-based interventions and perinatal support programs that address the unique challenges of new parenthood.
Colleen’s approach is both client-centred and evidence-based. She integrates neuropsychological insights into her maternal-infant work, ensuring that interventions support healthy brain development in infants. Furthermore, she mentors junior practitioners within Babies in Mind, sharing best practices for postnatal depression screening and infant observation techniques.
Maternal-Infant Mental Health Consultations: Comprehensive assessments and therapy for postnatal depression, anxiety, and bonding difficulties.
Attachment-Based Therapy: Interventions designed to strengthen the mother-infant bond through guided interaction and reflective exercises.
Infant Developmental Screening: Neuropsychological evaluations that monitor cognitive, motor, and social milestones in early infancy.
Parent-Infant Psychotherapy: Joint sessions that enhance emotional attunement, communication, and sensitivity between caregivers and infants.
Perinatal Support Workshops: Group programs that equip new parents with coping strategies for stress management, sleep regulation, and feeding challenges.
Breastfeeding Support Counselling: Psychological guidance to address lactation anxiety, motherhood adjustment, and feeding confidence.
Postnatal Well-Being Training: Educational sessions on self-care, mindfulness, and resilience tailored to postpartum experiences.
Multidisciplinary Case Collaboration: Coordinated care meetings with Babies in Mind practitioners to ensure holistic support across disciplines.
All services take place within Babies in Mind’s dedicated therapy spaces, featuring child-safe equipment, soft-furnished observation rooms, and digital recording tools for reflective review. Furthermore, Colleen uses secure teletherapy platforms for follow-up sessions, ensuring continuity of care for families unable to attend in person.
She conducts regular case reviews and peer supervision within the Babies in Mind network. Consequently, clients benefit from a collaborative environment that fosters shared learning and consistent quality of care. Additionally, Colleen leads network-wide professional development workshops on perinatal mental health, advancing the entire team’s expertise.
Colleen’s commitment to personalised patient care means that every program adapts as families progress. Therefore, she schedules follow-up evaluations to track infant developmental gains and maternal well-being.
