About Dr. David Epstein
Dr. David Epstein is a skilled gastroenterologist with broad experience in medicine. He graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School in 1990 and completed his internship at Groote Schuur Hospital. Over the years, Dr. Epstein worked in various medical fields both in South Africa and abroad. He gained experience in emergency medicine, paediatrics, general practice, and orthopaedics.
In 2002, Dr. Epstein specialized in Internal Medicine and earned his fellowship (FCP) at the University of Cape Town. He then trained in Gastroenterology and received his Certificate in Gastroenterology in 2006. Dr. Epstein trained under Prof. Chris Mulder at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, enhancing his expertise.
Today, Dr. Epstein practices at Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Cape Town and holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer appointment at the University of Cape Town. He is a member of the South African Gastroenterology Society and the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation. Dr. Epstein focuses on inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. He also manages the South African Gastroenterology Society’s IBD Registry.
