Welcome to Dr Emily Haigh Psychology, based in Lancaster. Emily is a fully qualified Clinical Psychologist who has worked across a range of NHS services since 2011. Her broad experience covers both mental and physical health, giving her a unique understanding of complex needs.
Emily’s final NHS role focused on pain management, where she gained close to ten years of specialised experience. Since 2021, she has dedicated her time to private practice, offering a personal, flexible approach to therapy.
Her work helps people facing challenges such as anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, perfectionism, depression, and adapting to health conditions. She particularly enjoys supporting individuals adjusting to major life changes, including becoming a parent, receiving a long-term health diagnosis, navigating the menopause, managing relationship breakdowns, or coping with career transitions.
Alongside her professional life, Emily is a mum and passionate about exercise. Running regularly helps her maintain balance and calm, a practice she often encourages clients to explore within their own lives.
Dr Emily Haigh offers a range of services, each tailored to meet individual needs. Her focus remains on helping clients live with greater contentment and resilience.
Anxiety and Stress Therapy: Emily works to ease overwhelming emotions and build healthy coping strategies that fit into daily life.
Low Self-Esteem and Perfectionism Support: Therapy sessions aim to reduce self-criticism, challenge rigid standards, and foster a more compassionate inner voice.
Depression Support: Emily offers targeted strategies to manage low mood, restore motivation, and improve emotional wellbeing.
Adjustment Support for Life Changes: Whether facing health issues, hormonal shifts, parenthood, or separation, Emily helps clients adapt with strength and self-understanding.
Support for Long-Term Health Conditions: She assists individuals in managing the emotional impact of chronic illnesses, alongside any medical treatment.
Emily draws on several evidence-based therapies, always matching the approach to the individual. She is particularly skilled in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). Her extensive additional training in these areas enhances the personalised service she offers.
Rather than following a set formula, Emily believes in working together to find the right way forward. Every step of therapy is shaped by your goals, preferences, and strengths.
Choosing the right psychologist is an important decision. At Dr Emily Haigh Psychology, clients receive compassionate, respectful care, designed around their specific circumstances.
