Dr. Jason Edgar is a Pulmonologist and Specialist Physician at Mediclinic Milnerton. He has a special interest in interventional pulmonology, including bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, and chest ultrasonography. Dr. Edgar’s journey in medicine started with his love for animals and nature, which led him to study biology and veterinary science. However, the desire to help people led him to pursue medicine.
He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) with distinction from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). After his internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto, Dr. Edgar worked in the HIV and TB specialist unit at Themba Secondary Hospital in Mpumalanga. He later returned to Baragwanath Hospital as a medical officer and eventually became a Medical Registrar.
Dr. Edgar completed his Master of Medicine (MMed) and further trained in pulmonology. He received his sub-specialist Certificate in Pulmonology (Phys) from the College of Medicine of South Africa. Before joining Mediclinic Milnerton, he worked at Tambo Memorial Hospital in Gauteng. Now, in Cape Town, he brings his expertise to offer specialized care to residents in the Northern Suburbs and beyond.
