Dr McKinley qualified from the University of Dundee in 1994. Upon returning to Scotland, he became the first consultant in Scotland to specialize in foot and ankle surgery. He was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in 2007.
Dr McKinley played a key role in developing foot and ankle services in Scotland. He helped establish ‘Foot and Ankle Scotland’, a group dedicated to advancing education and improving patient care. He is also the clinical lead for Foot and Ankle Services in Edinburgh and serves as Programme Director for the University of Edinburgh’s ChM in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
