Dr. Kirschnee Naidoo Clinical Psychologist Berea
Description
Dr. Kirschnee Naidoo – Clinical Psychologist in Berea
About Me
I am a Clinical Psychologist based in Berea, Durban, with a deep commitment to patient-centred care. I previously worked for the Department of Health, where I served as Deputy Director: Employee Assistance Programme, playing a key role in establishing the Employee Assistance/Wellness Programme. After 18 years in the public sector, I transitioned to private practice, now operating from Glenwood Medical Centre in Bulwer and Value Health Medical and Dental Centre in Hillcrest. I also offer online consultations via Zoom for clients who prefer a remote service.
My clinical work spans a wide range of client needs, from individuals and couples to families and children. I also provide corporate counselling and run workshops on various topics, such as stress management, grief counselling, and time management. Over the years, I have contributed to public discourse, including hosting a talk show on “Bullying and Suicide” on Lotus FM and discussing the psychological effects of COVID-19 on platforms such as Colours TV and Pulse by HealthjobHub.
Currently, I am pursuing my PhD in Psychology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. My research focuses on the psychological and work-related consequences of over-indebtedness, adding a unique dimension to my expertise.
Services Offered
I provide a range of tailored psychological services to meet the diverse needs of my clients. These include:
Individual Counselling
My individual counselling services are designed to help clients manage anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotional challenges. Through personalised sessions, I work with clients to explore their issues and develop strategies for coping and healing.
Couples Counselling
Relationship dynamics can be complex. Through couples counselling, I assist partners in improving communication, resolving conflicts, and rebuilding trust, ensuring healthier and more fulfilling relationships.
Group Counselling
Group therapy allows individuals to share their experiences in a supportive environment. It is particularly helpful for those facing issues such as anxiety, stress, or low self-esteem. Together, participants learn from each other while receiving professional guidance.
Trauma Counselling
Trauma can leave lasting emotional scars. I provide specialised trauma counselling to help clients process and heal from distressing experiences, whether personal or work-related.
Workplace Counselling
For organisations, I offer employee wellness programmes and stress management workshops. I also provide crisis intervention to address workplace issues and support staff well-being.
Grief Counselling
Losing a loved one is never easy. Grief counselling provides a safe space for individuals to process their emotions and begin their healing journey.
Psych-Oncology Counselling
For those facing cancer diagnoses, I offer psych-oncology counselling. This service helps patients and their families navigate the emotional challenges that come with cancer treatment.
Crisis Intervention
In times of crisis, immediate support is essential. I offer rapid crisis intervention services to assist individuals in distress and provide immediate relief.
Managing the New Normal (COVID-19)
The pandemic has presented unique challenges. I offer counselling to help individuals adjust to the new normal, manage stress, and maintain mental well-being in uncertain times.
Additional Information
Professional Registration
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF) of Southern Africa. These registrations ensure that I adhere to the highest ethical standards in my practice.
Public Engagement
Beyond my clinical work, I actively engage with the public through media and workshops. I have appeared on Lotus FM, Colours TV, and Pulse by HealthjobHub, discussing important topics like bullying, suicide prevention, and the psychological effects of COVID-19.
PhD Research
As part of my ongoing professional development, I am currently completing my PhD research, which investigates the psychological impact of over-indebtedness. This research aims to better understand the mental health consequences of financial strain and inform future interventions.
Online Counselling
To ensure accessibility, I offer online therapy sessions via Zoom. This service is ideal for clients who may not be able to attend in person, allowing them to access support from the comfort of their own home.
