Dr. Malcolm Dewar is a specialist urologist and fellowship-trained urologic oncologist based in Claremont, Cape Town, South Africa. He provides exceptional patient-centered, evidence-based care to all his patients.

Dr. Dewar earned his MBChB at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2003. He then spent nearly five years as a junior doctor in KwaZulu-Natal. Later, he worked for over three years as a general surgery registrar at UCT. In February 2012, he began his urology registrar training. He completed his final examinations (FCUrol) in 2015 and earned his MMed degree in 2016. That same year, he received the Phillip Smith Prize for the best postgraduate student in Urology.

Between July 2016 and June 2018, Dr. Dewar completed a two-year fellowship in urological surgical oncology at Western University and the London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario, Canada. During this period, he obtained an MSc degree, conducted research in both clinical and basic sciences, and gained significant experience in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries.

In July 2018, he joined Cape Urology. He practices general adult urology with a particular focus on urological cancers. As a certified robotic surgeon, he regularly performs robot-assisted prostatectomies using the da Vinci X system at Life Kingsbury Hospital.

Beyond his clinical practice, he serves as a senior lecturer in the Division of Urology at UCT. He also conducts weekly theater sessions at Groote Schuur Hospital, teaching urological oncology surgery to urology trainees.
