Although she did not initially plan to specialize in obstetrics and gynaecology, a community service placement at Kimberley Hospital Complex revealed her talent and enthusiasm for this field.

Dr Whelpton holds a Diploma in Obstetrics (DipOB) from the CMSA (2017) and a Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FCOG) from the CMSA (2023). She completed a Master’s in Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Cape Town in 2024.
