Dr Maseqhala Pauline Nkondo-Ndaba is a Specialist Psychiatrist at Netcare Akeso Arcadia. She completed her MBChB at the University of Cape Town and later earned her MMed in Psychiatry from the University of Pretoria. Additionally, she holds a Fellowship with the College of Psychiatrists of South Africa.
With more than eight years of experience, she offers both inpatient and outpatient mental health care. Her special interests include mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and neuropsychiatric consultations.
Beyond clinical work, Dr Nkondo-Ndaba is actively involved in research. She co-authored a study on the effects of antipsychotic medications on physical health markers in male psychiatric patients. She has presented at events such as the SASOP Annual Congress and contributes regularly to Netcare’s News Hub with articles on mental wellbeing. Moreover, she supports the next generation of professionals by supervising medical students and mentoring junior doctors.
She takes a holistic, person-centred approach, working in close partnership with psychologists, occupational therapists, and nurses. This team-based model ensures that patients receive consistent, well-rounded support throughout their recovery.
Consultations take place in private, calming spaces designed with confidentiality in mind. The clinic includes a modern ECT suite and group rooms with audio-visual tools for workshops and support sessions.
Before the first session, patients complete a short online pre-assessment form to help focus the consultation. First appointments are up to 90 minutes long, allowing time for a full evaluation and personalised plan. Follow-up sessions are 45 minutes. To fit busy schedules, early morning and late afternoon times are available.
To reduce delays, the team assists with medical aid claims and PMB authorisations. This support helps ensure continuous access to essential treatments.
Dr Nkondo-Ndaba also leads community talks on stress and mental resilience, held every quarter. In addition, monthly peer-support groups offer patients a sense of community and connection. For urgent needs, 24/7 psychiatric support is available.
