Rajoo, affectionately known as Roy, a distinguished Orthopaedic Surgeon with extensive training both in South Africa and internationally. He specializes in hand and arthroplasty surgery, and his expertise spans complex trauma and general orthopaedics. Dr. Rajoo completed his MBChB at the University of Natal and achieved his Orthopaedic Fellowship from the Colleges of Medicine. Furthermore, he honed his skills during a Hand Fellowship under Professor Ulrich Mennen. In 1999, he moved to Canada where he served as Head of Surgery in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and completed his LMCC examinations. Seeking to broaden his surgical perspective, he visited arthroplasty surgeons in India, thereby enhancing his proficiency in joint replacement procedures. In 2005, driven by a desire to serve his community and enjoy the local climate, he returned to Durban and founded Umhlanga Orthopaedic Surgeons. Initially, he established practices at Mt Edgecombe Hospital and later at Umhlanga Hospital. The practice expanded further in 2015 with the opening of offices at Gateway Hospital, ensuring that our patients receive top-quality, accessible care.
