She worked as a medical officer in emergency medicine for two years and completed a post-graduate diploma in HIV and AIDS management in 2017. Dr Waghid specialized in dermatology at Groote Schuur Hospital, managing a busy clinic and ward. She treated various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, skin infections, autoimmune diseases, drug reactions, and skin cancers.

Dr Waghid became a fellow of the College of Dermatologists (SA) in 2021 and completed her Master’s degree in Dermatology at the University of Cape Town in 2022.
