About Dr Tasneem Gallant

Dr Tasneem Gallant studied at Stellenbosch University and completed her medical degree in 2013. She then gained experience at several hospitals, including Mitchells Plain District Hospital, Mowbray Maternity Hospital, and Tygerberg Hospital. At Tygerberg, she worked first as a Medical Officer and later as a Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Moreover, she earned her master’s degree in 2022. Afterwards, she refined her skills at Khayelitsha District Hospital, Karl Bremer Hospital, and private O&G practices. She focuses on helping women with both routine and complicated pregnancies.

“What I love about obstetrics and gynaecology is its variety,” says Dr Gallant. “I assist women at different stages of life using both surgical and medical skills.”

Now at Mediclinic Constantiaberg, Dr Gallant works with Dr Jo-Ann Kammies to provide women in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs and nearby areas with excellent care.

Personal Life

Dr Gallant is married and has a daughter. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, cooking, and baking. She describes herself as family-oriented and enjoys quiet moments at home.

About Dr Jo-Ann Kammies

Dr Jo-Ann Kammies is an Obstetrician-Gynaecologist who helps women make informed decisions about their reproductive health. She supports natural births and manages early pregnancy problems. Her skills include ultrasound, contraception, pap smears, colposcopy, and gynaecological procedures.

After graduating from the University of Cape Town in 2010, she completed her internship at Kimberley Hospital. Then she did community service at Otto Du Plessis Hospital. Later, she worked as a Medical Officer at Khayelitsha District Hospital. Dr Kammies completed specialist registrar training at Tygerberg Hospital and earned her master’s degree in 2022.

Now at Mediclinic Constantiaberg, she collaborates with Dr Gallant to provide women of all ages with clear guidance and tailored care. “We always discuss options with our patients so they can make the best choices,” she explains.

Obstetric Services

Drs Gallant and Kammies provide a full range of obstetric services, including:

• Pre-conception check-ups

• Initial booking visits and viability scans (8–10 weeks)

• Follow-up for low- and high-risk pregnancies

• Delivery: vaginal, elective and emergency caesarean, VBAC, assisted vaginal delivery

• Postpartum checks at 7 days and 6 weeks, including family planning and cervical screening

In addition, they provide continuous support during labour and after delivery.
